Nov 30, 2015
In this episode I discuss the inexcusable rhetoric by some on the left after the Colorado shooting incident where the subject entered the Planned Parenthood facility. I also address the current debate on Capitol Hill about education funding and a relatively simple fix, if we could muster the courage to put politics aside. The core topic of today’s show is the Obama administration’s attempt to insert itself into the private pension market and put taxpayers on the hook for the bill.
Nov 27, 2015
In this episode I discuss Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and her questionable response to a question about the city’s overly restrictive firearms laws. I also discuss a whistleblower report that immigrant children are being place with people with extensive criminal histories, including child molestation. The core topic of the show is a misleading opinion piece written by the NY Times’ Paul Krugman about the Obamacare death spiral. Krugman sacrifices any remaining credibility he has left to defend the indefensible.
Nov 25, 2015
In this episode’s “Just the Facts Matt,” with Matt Palumbo, I discuss the Left’s fascination with hammering American businesses into submission with our unnecessarily high corporate tax rate. I also address the Obamacare death spiral and how this is a frightening harbinger of our healthcare future.
Nov 24, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky-notes” I discuss the war on business occurring within the Democratic Party as they continue to drive American businesses overseas through their confiscatory tax policies. I also address the troubling incident at the Turkish-Syrian border involving the downing of a Russian fighter jet. The core topic of today’s show is the Obama administration’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and their attempt to “guess” the race of auto-loan applicants in an attempt to prove widespread racial discrimination in the auto loan industry.
Nov 23, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky-notes” I discuss some critical takeaways from the Louisiana Governor’s race and from the elections in Argentina. I also address what healthcare is going to look like if additional healthcare insurance companies follow United’s example and pull out of the Obamacare exchanges. The core topic of today’s show is my editorial piece at Conservative Review which addresses President Obama’s consistent failure to prioritize his time. When given the opportunity to do the right thing for us, or the right thing for himself, he typically does what’s right for himself.
Nov 20, 2015
In this episode I discuss how the Mumbai and Westgate Mall terror attacks served as the “canary in the coal mine” for the future of terrorism. I also discuss Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren’s shameless attack on corporate tax reform and the damaging effects the tax is having on middle-class workers in the United States. The core topic of today’s show is a discussion of a major blow to Obamacare. One of the country’s largest employers is now pulling out of the Obamacare exchanges which will inevitably set off a parade of horribles.
Nov 19, 2015
In this episode I discuss some developments which have the potential to destroy your retirement holdings and bankrupt your pension. These regulations and Federal Reserve decisions should be the focus of a more vibrant public discussion because they will damage your ability to support your family in retirement. I also address President Obama’s decision to focus on gun-control during his last year in office, despite the numerous economic and national security threats we face. This is additional evidence of a President completely out-of-touch with concerned Americans as he requests more restrictions for legal gun-owners and, shockingly, he threatens to veto measures for more security restrictions for Syrian refugees. Finally, I discuss an interesting piece in fivethirtyeight.com discussing the presidential race.
Nov 18, 2015
In this episode I discuss the Left’s penchant for overly restrictive land-use regulations and the damage it is doing to the real estate market. I also address the blatantly unconstitutional actions by President Obama with regard to closing Guantanamo and the threat to our constitutional republic that this presents. I cover the comments by FBI Director Jim Comey about the broken Syrian refugee “vetting” process and the contradictory comments by Attorney General Loretta Lynch. This has the potential to place Americans in very real danger and this confusion about the “vetting” process will only worsen the doubts about the process.
Nov 17, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky notes” I discuss the rapidly deteriorating economic situation in Puerto Rico and what it means for us. I also address the FCC’s efforts to regulate the Internet and the dangers this presents not only for innovation, but for Internet freedom as well. Finally, I address the comments by Democratic California Senator Dianne Feinstein challenging President Obama’s ISIS comments. The core topic of today’s show is the failing Japanese economy, which is now back in recession. Instead of learning from Japan’s mistakes, the United States is replicating them.
Nov 16, 2015
In this episode I discuss the primary takeaways from the Paris terror strikes including: an analysis of the three-front attack ISIS is now waging, President Obama’s failure to accurately diagnose the threat, and commentary on what you should do. I also address a pending banking and financial crisis and some options we can utilize to minimize financial risk in the system by forcing investors, not the taxpayers, to absorb the inevitable risks.
Nov 13, 2015
In this episode I discuss the movement by a number of activists to make college “free” in the United States. We are in a state of paralysis when it comes to debating these suggestions. There is a right side, which recognizes that economic incentives and costs matter, and there is a wrong side that is ignoring the obligations placed on others by declaring education a “right.” I also discuss some proposals for the Democrats for their national convention. They should lead from the front and practice what they preach.
Nov 12, 2015
In this episode I discuss another flip-flop by Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is now turning her back on school-choice and a generation of students who will be left behind due to a poor education. I also discuss the economics of government intervention in the healthcare and higher education arenas. Whenever we see a prolonged spike in costs in our economy, almost certainly a failed government payment model is right around the corner. It’s paradoxical how many on the far-left fail to see that the areas within our economy which are seeing the largest cost spikes are also the areas of the economy with significant government footprints on them.
Nov 11, 2015
In this episode our resident fact-checker Matt Palumbo breaks down some persistent myths propagated by the left about tax policy, the minimum wage, the “Clinton Surplus,” and the difference between public debt and intra-governmental debt.
Nov 10, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky notes” I discuss the potential appointment of Heather Fong to head the Border Patrol. Heather Fong has openly fought for sanctuary city policies during her time with the San Francisco Police force. This is another incredible abdication of duty by the Obama administration. I also discuss the court case which has resulted in a dramatic setback for the Obama administration’s executive immigration amnesty program. The core topic of today’s show is the catastrophic failure of the Obamacare co-ops and the cascading troubles coming our way. This will impact your wallet if we fail to act and you need to know the details.
Nov 9, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky notes” I discuss the dangers of a new Japanese proposal to allow their central bank to buy stock in private companies. This cascade of events is a harbinger of our future if we do not address our country’s failing monetary and fiscal policy. I also address the left’s culture war and their numerous electoral setbacks and how they are connected. The core topic of today’s show is an Obamacare taxing scheme known as the “Cadillac Tax” and the devastating effects it is going to have on your wallet and the national debt.
Nov 6, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky notes” I discuss the October jobs report and what it means for the economy and for your wallet. With 94 million Americans out of the workforce we have a lot of work to do. I also discuss a new front in the left’s war on affordable energy. They are using the legal process to intimidate energy companies into submission. The core topic of today’s show is a discussion of the false premise that it’s the partisan label that matters. It doesn’t. I discuss policy ideas which have worked under a GOP congress and a Democratic White House and vice-versa.
Nov 5, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky notes” I discuss pseudo-intellectual, New York Times’ op-ed columnist Charles Blow and his disturbing use of a police suicide to advance his sorry ideological agenda. I also address the damage the Obama administration has done to the integrity of our government institutions and the long-term effects this is going to have on our economy and collective sense of trust in the system. The core topic of today’s show is a discussion of why the Obama economy continues to struggle despite accommodative Federal Reserve policy.
Nov 4, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky notes” I discuss the takeaways from yesterday’s important conservative victories in Kentucky, Houston, and even San Francisco. I also discuss the IMF’s push to include the Chinese Yuan as an international reserve currency and the potential damage to our already perilous national debt problem. The core topic of today’s show is the left’s continued battle against the mythical problem of “overpopulation” and the ideological reasons for this fight.
Nov 3, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky notes” I discuss a sneaky plan by green groups to pad their wallets through new federal government land grabs. We need to look past the administration’s talking points and uncover the real story with schemes like this. I also discuss another Obama administration scheme to circumvent a Texas judge’s order putting a hold on the Obama administration’s unconstitutional executive amnesty program. The core topic of today’s show is a discussion of the left’s economic disconnect when they claim public education is underfunded, despite its bureaucratic structural-problems, and then turn around and claim that free-market healthcare is over-funded, despite evidence of it structural successes. I use the assault on “gold-plated” union healthcare plans through the Obamacare “Cadillac Tax” to make the point.
Nov 2, 2015
In this episode’s “sticky notes” I discuss a disturbing poll showing that 56% of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism. I make the case that these numbers indicate that many of the Democrats supporting socialism aren’t certain what socialism actually is. I also discuss the many personal privacy dangers of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) and why you should be fighting back against it. The core topic of today’s show is the troubling misinformation campaign by the media and the far-left on the topic of tax rates. They simply refuse to tell the truth about the results of past U.S. income tax rate cuts because the data runs counter to their class-warfare narrative.
